A Mistake Becomes A Good Alternative

I worked late tonight and had really late dinner. When I got home I realized I was out of ice tea but I had pink lemonade as an alternative. Therefore, I decided to review Crystal Light Pink Lemonade. I thought the lemonade had a strong flavor. It was a little sour or as my mom says pucker power. However, I really enjoyed it and thought it was refreshing.

The nutritional facts were clearly labeled on the back of the container. Based on serving size of 8 fl oz. the lemonade has 5 calories, 0g of fat, 0mg of sodium, 0g of protein and 0g of carbohydrates.

The consumer information was done well. Crystal Light did include an expiration date, 1-800 number, snail mail address and website. Clearly, they know what they are doing when it comes to consumer labeling. I applaud them for doing a good job. One minor suggestion would to change the font size for the expiration date to a large one. This way it can be easily read.

Overall, I give Crystal Light Pink Lemonade a 150 DFC. I thought it tasted great and had a strong but not offense taste. The consumer information was great and their was 0g of carbohydrates, which was awesome. Also, they set the standard on how consumer labeling should be on all products.

Dukes Mayonnaise

Hail to the Duke

It is Sunday, which means football and some good snacks for the game. One of my friends brought over some fish sticks for an appetizer. I am glad he did, since it gave me an excuse to bring out some mayonnaise. Therefore, the DFC will review Dukes Real Mayonnaise. It was very creamy and did not have that strong of a taste. I thought the egg really was the strongest taste, but it meshed will with the other ingredients.

The nutritional facts were clearly labeled on the side of the bottle. Based on one table spoon the mayonnaise has 100 calories, 12 g of fat, 10mg of cholesterol, 75 mg of sodium, and 0g of carbohydrates.

Duke’s listed an expiration date, snail mail address, website and a consumer warning regarding eggs in their product. I was disappointed that they did not list a 1-800 number, but they did include the majority of the important consumer information.

Overall, give Duke’s Mayonnaise a 200 DFC.  I thought the mayo went really well with the fish sticks. It was very creamy but did not have a strong taste. It did not have any carbohydrates, but plenty of calories for a table spoon size. The consumer information was done well with one exception. I may continue to look for Duke’s when the few times I use mayonnaise.
